Thailand Open Chess Championships 2016 – 16th Bangkok Chess Club Open
Tournament Regulations
- This
is an individual tournament, open to all players with FIDE ID number
(If you do not have Fide ID, please contact your country’s Rating
Officer).
- There
are two groups of play: Open category for all players, and Challenger
category for players rated below 2100 or unrated (ratings based on April
2016 FIDE rating list – national ratings will be validated by the
organizer). When registering, players must indicate in which group they
wish to play.
- FIDE
(International Chess Federation) rules and regulations shall apply.
Results will be sent for FIDE rating calculations, and are eligible for
FIDE title norms.
- Both
groups will be played using the Swiss System, with 9 rounds for Open,
and 7 rounds for Challenger. For the pairings, a Swiss Manager program
will be used.
- The
matches shall be conducted according to the schedule, which will be
made known to the respective players before the start of the tournament.
- Each
player is accorded with a time control of 90 minutes for 40 moves +
30min for the rest of the game. In addition there is 30 seconds
increment per move, starting from the move 1.
- Five
minutes before the games start, the Chief Arbiter shall make the
announcement accordingly. If any player is not present within an hour
after the game is started, he shall lose by default.
- Players
are not allowed to bring mobile phones or other electronic devices to
the tournament hall, any violation shall result in loss of game.
Organizer will provide a deposit point outside playing hall, where
player can leave their mobile devices at their own risk.
- Officials and players should be smartly attired at all times while in the playing hall.

* Entry fee for ‘Winner-takes-all’ blitz tournament is Baht 100 (GMs free).
Prizes. In
16th BCC Open 2016, the prizes are for 1-10 ranks and 5 best Thais, and
certificates for best 3 best juniors and best lady. 1st prize will be
Baht 100,000. BCC Challenger has prizes for 1-5 with 1st prize Baht
20,000 and certificates for 3 Best Juniors and best Lady. (Please note:
All prizes are in Thai Baht. Under Thai law, 5% tax must be deducted
from the prize money)

- Deputy Chief Arbiter: IA Panupand Vijjuprabha
- In the event of dispute the Chief Arbiter’s decision is final.

Accommodation.
Players are required to budget for their own board and lodgings, as
well as transportation needs. Special room rates has been negotiated at
Dusit Thani Bangkok as follows
- Superior Room, Single/Twin, Baht 3,700.- nett / room / night
- Deluxe Room, Single/Twin, Baht 4,300.- nett / room / night
The above rates are inclusive of service charge, VAT, breakfast and complimentary internet.

Entry Fees.
- Open: 4,000 Baht (Early bird registration before March 10, 2016 is baht 3,500)
- Challenger: 2,500 Baht (Early bird registration before March 10, 2016 is baht 2,000)
- All tournament fees must be paid before the start of the first round
Registration.
The deadline for early bird registration is March 10, 2016. After this
date the normal registration charge will apply, and registrations may be
declined. Please complete the online registration form. The organiser will confirm your registration by e-mail. If you do not get a reply within a week, please send a reminder .
Conditions for Titled Players.
Tournament fees are waived for GMs, WGMs, IMs, WIMs and 2500+ rated
players (according official FIDE April 2016 rating list). The first 15
GMs to register will get complimentary accommodation (room &
breakfast in twin sharing with another GM for 9 nights). Complimentary
room reservation is confirmed after organizer has received:
- online registration form
- deposit transfer of 2,000 Baht (approximately €50.-) (Paypal payment page)
Deposits will be fully returned after check-in. Please contact organiser for inquiries.
